Campaigns in Don Valley East are powered by neighbours, not developers. Every contribution goes straight into the work that reaches residents — lawn signs, printed literature for the doors, and the digital outreach that tells people who is on the ballot and why.
A strong local campaign costs money, but it should never depend on big money. Your contribution keeps this one accountable to the people it hopes to represent.
Whatever you can give makes a real difference — and because of the City of Toronto's rebate program, most of it comes back to you. Thank you for standing with us.
Contribution limit & eligibility
The most you may contribute to a Toronto council candidate is $1,200. Contributions may only be made by individuals who normally reside in Ontario, using your own funds. Political contributions are not tax deductible — but most of your contribution is eligible for a City of Toronto rebate, explained below.
How the City of Toronto rebate works
Toronto's Contribution Rebate Program returns most of your contribution to you. The rebate is calculated in tiers:
- 75% of the first $300
- 50% of the amount from $300.01 to $1,000
- 33⅓% of the amount over $1,000
The maximum rebate is $1,000. Contributions of $25 or less are not eligible, and only individuals who normally reside in Ontario can claim a rebate.
What your contribution really costs
After the City's rebate, your out-of-pocket cost is far lower than your contribution. A few examples:
